13 years in the making, this modern-day temple in the Nagara shaili

(style) was inaugurated in 2006. Various architects co-operated in its

construction. No steel or concrete is present in the foundation below the

garbha griha (the inner sanctums of the deities) in deference to the

dictates of ancient temple-building treatises like the Vastu-Shastra. Two

types of stone were used instead to create a foundation of over 75,000

cu. ft. 48 steps, with one midway landing, lead up to the inner sanctums.

8 carvers from the state of Orissa carved the figures adorning walls,

pillars and arches adorning its exterior.

When I visited the temple out of curiosity I was not greatly enamored by

its aesthetics. A huge neon sign strangely announces the name of the

temple, like you see outside commercial establishments. Inside the

temple, in its great hall I saw vast blow-ups of its founder competing with

the paintings and statues of gods and goddesses. The main hall also

had a shop selling bric-a-brac of religious significance. The stench of

commerce pervaded this 'Abode of the Gods'...

very gut documentation, the composition show many main aspect and details of the architecture of the temple. Well done..!

Excellent work Rajat. As you said the sign seems out of place in what otherwise appears to be very interesting architecture.

Rajat, like the composition and tone. Gods have abandoned these temples for the stench, you mention.

The intentional graininess gives this image a classic and almost sacred look to it.  Balance and symmetry are two other qualities that add to the overall attractiveness.

Rajat I find it fascinating, an architectural master piece. I will love to see it in full color. Take good care my friend.  Warm regards.
