a remarkable photo. It has both a very pleasant calmness and a intriguing poetry that pulls me into its world. My guess - if I may try to look behind the curtain - is that this is achieved by the balance of sky and water (it takes some courage to leave so much white space on a photo!) and the subtle rhythm of pickets disappearing step by step in the misty distance - they pick up my eyes and guide them through the white void to the silhouette of the town.

Best regards, Wolfgang

Thank you for your comments, Wolfgang!

In fact there was a lot of backlight. No wind at all, so the lake came out pretty quiet. Didn't have to do much in photoshop. Looking at your portfolio and your website, I noticed we are both working in the same style, with personal differences, of course. I liked 'Trees and shadows' and 'Winter III-colours' a lot. Pure poetry, imho.

Many thanks for your reply to my comment. You're right about similarities of our "style" (though I'm not sure whether I really have a "style" - even if I want to have a style ;-)).

Anyway, in a world (or web) flooded by oversaturated HDRs I'm always happy to discover silent gems like this photo of yours.
