jerrymat 3 Posted September 30, 2010 Alexander,The famous photographer Wm Mortensen, in his book called The Model, said he had a little list of things that should not be done in photography of nudes. Nudes of this sort he classified as "the prudy nudy" and he distained it. It seems it offended his sense of both feminine beauty and the sense of fine art nudes. He felt it cheapened the effect of the image. I must admit I did one on purpose and in lampoon style, titling it "prudy nudy" and I post it here in P.N. (but as a jest, not serious work) I did also post one under the title, Modesty, in which I think the pose and attitude of the model was consistent with the title.Whether you feel Mortensen is right is your prerogative but I feel like he was my tutor.I also noticed that your nude is hard to classify. Is she a glamour nude? No because of the distainful look on her face. Is she a fine art nude - hardly with her looking at the camera and holding her hand in front. Is she a candid nude - no, obviously posed. I can't classify her.Jerry Matchett Link to comment
alexto 0 Posted September 30, 2010 Dear Jerry! I really appreciate your point of view, but I think that this genre is a nude body which doesn't leave the viewer indifferent but at the same time it isn't vulgar and doesn't arouse lust feelings because a nude body appears even in biblical plot. According to your comment I think I had turned out well. Best regards, Alex Link to comment
