Jack McRitchie 150 Posted April 17, 2010 The term "sfumato" flashed into my mind. I can't even remember precisely what it means. Maybe it's just a flavor of ice cream. (I'd better look it up)Okay, I'm back. Thanks to Google, I've refreshed my memory of that term, which was first applied to Renaissance painting and had to do with a certain brush stroke technique used to produce a soft, blended light effect. I guess it came to mind when I viewed this picture because of the way the hazy light seems to reduce the solidity of the people and structures in the distance which in turn serves to highlight and emphasize the foreground figures. jim_air 0 Posted April 18, 2010 So seemingly simple at first, however it holds the attention. Well balanced and really good overall effect, Figline, I particularly like it. Link to comment
