The earliest part of the morning was a heavy overcast, but things improved as the clouds separated enough to allow the sun to shine through. This was the beginning of a front that produced high winds and culminated in heavy rains. This is encouraging for me, the eternal optimist. This field is good now, but the underlying buds with the rain should be a harbinger of incredible blooming. Along with the already present owl's clover, there should be a bonanza of lupine fighting for space on this hillside. The rains from last night could mean a whole new spring show at the higher elevations, once the temps rise into the 80's. I really love this place. I can't get enough!! Please enjoy a Larger preview and see if you can relate!

It seems the lone tree along the ridge was begging for the spotlight. The Larger preview

Beautiful Capture. And a great description as always. Springtime in the foothills is always a thing of beauty, which I might add you capture so well...Ray

Wow! Looking at this large figuratively transported me to this location.....I felt like I was standing in the field. This is so beautiful! I'm so jealous that you live close to such beauty, yet it's great that you never seem to take it for granted.

Thanks Maury, Ray and Christal! Christal, I ask people who live in Bakersfield all the time if they have had the chance to get out and see the wildflowers. Everybody seems to be too busy. I don't get too pushy though. I prefer to have them all to myself. Still, it doesn't make much sense to me. Scenes like these are prizes that have no odds for winning (or losing). Just head out there and you are an instant winner. I like winning!
