Andrew,

How could I not critique the photograph of this beautiful girl after your very nice dedication? Thank you, Andrew. I will try to be kind, but honest.

You have focused very well on her eyes. She has very good eye contact with the camera (viewer). There is something about her eyes and expression that looks very sensual to me. I find her pleading for attention -- almost demanding. I would not be surprised to see a whip in her hand. ;) -- This is not a bad thing.

Her make-up looks very well applied and works well with her outfit. The black background goes beautifully with her lovely lace gown and beads. She is separated from the background, but I would like to see her hair lit more from the back to give it even more separation.

I do like all the accessories you have included. The highlights on them work well. Perhaps I would remove the long strands of beads and go with just the larger beads on the shorter strand. My eyes go to the longer strands of beads and follow them down and out of the photograph. If you had backed up (or zoomed out) to include where the strands come together it would have been better -- but a totally different portrait. That would have given my eyes a place to stop before leaving the photograph. The more I look at her, the more I think just the shorter strand of beads would have worked better. Sometimes, less is more.

You want to compositionally balance the left and right sides of the photograph. The compositional "rule" for this suggests that you position the tip of the subject's nose in the vertical center of the photograph. You have chosen to use a horizontal format with a vertical subject. I think I would have preferred to see her within a vertical frame. There is nothing in the background that needs to be shown.

I find her skin tone to be a little on the orange side.

Your lighting is very nice and I like the highlights on her face and the specular highlights on her lips. You have two catch lights in her eyes. One catch light per eye is preferred.

Picky as always, I would soften the wrinkles at her left armpit. For some reason, they draw my attention.

This is a very good portrait of a very beautiful girl.

Nice shot,

Mark

Mark,

Thanks a lot. You comments are worth more that any credit courses in photography that I could take.

Regards,

Andrew

Marvelous shot once again . The accesories work well with her dress . I like the lighting and it's the first time I have noticed the tatoo , even that is discreet and works with the outfit ! Beautiful ! Bill
