jtipton 0 Posted April 10, 2010 OK, maybe it's just me, but this picture has a hypnotic effect. Kind of like a real fire. Another very nice piece of Gailean art. All my best-Jim Link to comment

GailAnthonyHarmer 5 Posted April 11, 2010 You kind of threw me for a loop...a wee bit there Jim.....Gailean art.....for a moment I stopped to question ...Gailean art??? what is that.....whew,,,,right over my head!!!!! Then I 'got' it. I have had this image for quite a bit...just didn't finish it...wasn't sure if I should post. My main idea was the same.....it was the finishing touches that had me stumped....I find if I stare too long, my eyes go a little 'whacky'....or I feel like there is something staring at me. Fun composing it....amazing what you can do when you dabble in abstract. Thanks so much for your critique.... I used to go to antique auctions a lot with my Dad, and one Auctioneer would call anything he couldn't 'pin down' as 'Jacobean'.......When I was first married (oh so many decades ago) a couple of young woman knocked on my apartment door, wanting to sell Magazines. Of course they tried to compliment me....saying "Oh I just love your style of furniture...it's so cozy....what do you call it?" After a moment I replied.........."anything I can get my hands on'...made them think hard enough that they didn't know what to say....and very politely accepted my 'turn down' to their magnificent magazine offer!!!!! 'Gailean art".....funny..! tnks again, Gail Link to comment

billsymmons 0 Posted April 11, 2010 Amazing what you can see in abstracts Gail. To me this is a warrior in a ritual fire dance with an eagle coming for a look see !! But if I turn it upside down it's a native icon placed by a ritual fire. Gailean art indeed. All my best, Bill Link to comment
alfbailey 2 Posted April 12, 2010 I love your creativity, it enables me to fantasise .....GAILEAN.....The Guardian of The Flame, half man, half bull in appearance. one of the gods servants Before man was allowed fire, Gailean would stand guard over the upper worlds precious flame, many mortals seeked the knowledge of the flame and inevitably perished at the hands of Gailean, whom it was said could pierce a mans soul with his eyes and burn out his heart with just a breath from his mouth..........but on a lighter note ....he was great guy to have around as friend if you were a smoker . : - ) (Sorry Jim I used poetic license and stole your name "Gailean" but it kinda fitted) Great work Gail Kind Regards Alf Link to comment

michaellinder 16,611 Posted April 13, 2010 Great phrase - "Gailean Art"! Sounds to me like we have the start of a photographic movement. In any case, this photograph's Rorschach appearance is extraordinarily intriguing. To the extent that Rorschach tests and other bits of pychobabble provide clues into the nature of personality, I can see a strong connection with Freud. And this leads to the religious symbolism of this photograph! Outstanding work! michael Link to comment
