pampolin 1 Posted April 9, 2010 i really love this colors e position of her hair. Lovely picture Link to comment
kendrawise 0 Posted April 9, 2010 I think the red lipstick would work better if the rest of her skin was a more natural color. For me, the half-rubbed-off-geisha look doesn't work well. Either tone the skin down to monochrome and leave a hint of color on her lips (reminiscent of the hand-colored portraits done in the 40's) or bring her full skin color back up and saturate the lips. Right now she just kind of looks... splotchy. Also, the crop makes her look like she's in a really uncomfortable position, with that arm and shoulder on the left of the image looking disconnected from the rest of her. Showing a little more of her might smooth that out -- or maybe not, hard for me to say. Another thumb-up on the hair, though. I like the way it wisps about her face. Link to comment
gsphotoguy 3 Posted April 9, 2010 I have to say plas a great thing, especially with results like this. The highly saturated lips work well for me against the muted skin tones. I also like the way her hair falls over her face without obscuring her eyes. The hair also helps with the pale areas of her skin. Her right arm is cut off in odd ways but it is a minor issue. davidmccracken 2 Posted April 10, 2010 Paulo, Thanks a lot. Before posting this I had a feeling it would not be to everyones' liking. I am glad it is to yours. Kendra, Thanks for taking the time to explain why you don't like this. As mentioned above, I knew it would not appeal to everyone but different people like different things. Your time is appreciated. Mark, I am not sure what 'plas' is. I think you mean play. It seems the hair is liked by all that have commented so far. Thanks a lot. Link to comment
Elstad 9 Posted April 10, 2010 Quite a different style for you David and one that suits you well. A marvelous portrait my friend! Link to comment
davidmccracken 2 Posted April 11, 2010 Raymond, I never thought I had any style but I would agree this is different. Thanks for the comment. Bob / Maurizio, Thanks! Link to comment
wmc718 3 Posted April 11, 2010 David, I had to hold off commenting on this image because I had to let it sink in for awhile. I like it... the tight crop draws the viewer's eyes to hers, and the saturated lips are frosting on the cake. Link to comment
bela_dick 1 Posted April 11, 2010 This is a photo that works like a trap (like many other in your portfolio) Once you see it you cant escape it. The red and black works perfectly and adds to the atmosphere. Cheers Bela Dick Link to comment
davidmccracken 2 Posted April 11, 2010 Michael, I wasn't sure about the photographic treatment... I am still not but I was aware of my eyes being drawn to hers in this image. The fact that someone mentioned it does make me happy. Bela, I have never thought about my images trapping anyone. It is an interesting comment although I have to be honest and say it is not one I fully understand. Perhaps you see something that I don't. Thanks a lot. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted April 11, 2010 Another strong red/black composition. Experimentation is a good thing. The hair wisping across her face is an excellent touch. Link to comment
