This was just a shot in my back yard, I am looking to improve wherever I

can, let me know how I could improve this photo and others as I practice

this great art form.

Erik, I'm by no means an expert but some thoughts:

- The sky isn't helping out. The light through the blossom is very nice, but due to the big cloud, the contrast in that region is fairly low, taking the effect down. A pity, since the light itself is very flattering and attractive (and it's easy to see what attracted in making this picture!).

- The tree is very centred in the frame. Typically, this does not help a compisition much (makes a tad boring). I also find it very tightly cropped, either wider (showing more surrounding) and off-centre, or a zoomed-in detail shot could be more pleasing.

- The shadow in the grass is a nice touch, that could be used to add dynamics.

Just an idea, but from a very low viewpoint, with a wide angle, looking up. It would have eliminated the white clouds more, you get a stronger upward line from the tree, and somewhat more dynamics.

Thank you Wouter! This was an odd overcast day with sun peeking through the clouds, I think I may try this shot again on a less cloudy day. The low perspective is a great idea.
