Karl,my first inclination was to crop the very hot sky but, as I look at it longer, I see it as an important part of the image giving context to the procession of the yaks and herders.

great capture Karl, I like the way that there are radial lines which emanate from the rear of the herd - the road, lines of shadow and light and the slope of the hill on the right. It would have been even better if the sun and sky were giving a more exciting light! Regards, erik

Dear Sumon, Jeff, Erik and Linda, thanks for your comments from very different parts of the world. The special light of the scenary comes from the bright sky just after sunset. I will work on the sky to reduce the clipped area.

To the right side of the background you can see the Boroghil Pass which leads to the Wakhan Corridor in Afghanistan. Karl

a stunner! absulute stunner!!!! this is raw, rugged and simultaneously powerfully aesthetic document of a people and their way of life. I must place this among everlasting classic shots of WORKERS'/ COMMUNITIES' migrations by SEBASTIAO SALGADO and ZALMAI AHAD! regards!

Dear Jeff and Tony, I have now replaced the photo whit a new version. I managed to restore quite some of the sky. I think this looks better. I would be interested to get your view. Karl

Karl, it's a lot better. Having restored the sky, I wonder if you can tone that cloud down a bit. It's dragging my eye away from the herd. Just a little, I suspect, would be great.

Dear Jeff, I understand your suggestion and tried to tone down the cloud. Can you see a differenence? Is it enough or should it still be more? Thanks for your feedback which helps me to witness how the highlights of a photo can be managed to drag the eye to where we want. Karl

Indeed an excellent photo ! I feel being involved in the scene, powerful dynamic, strong acting diagonals. Difficult light, beautiful for the foreground and light scattering, adds depth. Hats off !

Cheers
