What a beautiful seaside scene, especially with the birds flying around. The red on the buildings stands out nicely against the blue sky.

This is a colorful and well composed scene. I do have a reservation though. In my opinion, the gulls are a distraction. Two of the gulls look as if they are merging with buildings even though we know they are not. I would have waited until the gulls were gone and then taken the shot.

I think the gulls go great in this photo.

I actually waited until the gulls were there just to add some interest.

After a second look, I think Jay has a good point.  If the gulls were in the background, not the foreground, they would not distract the viewer from the subject so much.

 

I made a shot of the same Nubble lighthouse, with a distracting foreground :-)
