this is such a wonderful photograph but for two things.

 

1. some more light on just her face.

2. PLEASE crop those clothes, wire, electric points etc. PLEASE.

 

i really want to give a 7 for aesthetics for this one. i'll do it immediately after you crop it.

I think the second version is way better! In the first one there's too much going on at the right side. Now it's more concentrated on the girl. This creates a very intensive mood, through the colours and the lighting. Very good!

Really good stuff

I prefer the original version. The clutter gives a sense of where she is...home and comfortable with herself. I also like the off-centeredness. This reminds me of Sally Mann's "At Twelve" series...photographing a girl at the point in her life when she is starting to show signs of becoming a woman. The cropped version feels more like a fashion shot and doesn't have the same level of depth.

It is a little hard to compare the two versions because of the size difference and the fact that the second version does not fit on my screen well. Both have very nice qualities, but I feel the first is the genuine article. I think the key element is the slight awkwardness of the pose which so well defines the life stage of the girl. A very nice portfolio. Downloading a hundred thumbnails is kind of a tedious process for someone like me with a 28.8 connection to the net. Maybe you will consider organizing your pictures into folders for the benefit of the modem-impaired.

i prefer the original by a long way. i too love the off centredness, the lived in, relaxed, sunday afternoon-ness of it.

Second version is just a meaningless picture, first is beautiful with some story beside.Pozdrawiam Kris

I will agree that the first one is the one i prefer - the context is great, much like sally mann. BTW - can i bum some of this golden light? beautiful portfolio

another vote for the original.

Definitely prefer the close-up. But the pose is too adult like and suggestive of a glamour shot, and it doesn't suite the child.
