davidmccracken 2 Posted April 4, 2010 The model liked it. The question is, "Do you?" Feedbackappreciated. Link to comment

alfbailey 2 Posted April 4, 2010 The red fan is instantly appealing, and the pose is different and original. An attractive shot that retains its individuality. Regards Alf Link to comment
jtipton 0 Posted April 5, 2010 I like the crop and the effective use of the fan. Nice enchanting quality. Link to comment
Jack_Maegli 0 Posted April 5, 2010 The detail of the fan and the models eye is split very well into the "rule of thirds" which makes this a very captivating photo. Link to comment
rmortenson 0 Posted April 5, 2010 The choice of color (black and red) is dramatic, effective and very "eastern." Because of that, I find the necklace (?) a little distracting. Overall a nicely executed photograph. Link to comment
owen_omeara 1 Posted April 5, 2010 Beautiful dear friend. I just uploaded one that should fit beautifully with it. -O Link to comment
davidmccracken 2 Posted April 6, 2010 Vicente, Thanks! That was what I was trying to achieve. Alf, It is good to know that a simple portrait has a degree of originality. Thanks! Jim, It seems that the fan is a winner. Thanks! Jack, I never have been one for following rules but if they make the image more appealing, then so be it. Thank you. Somanth, I try! Thanks! Robert, I didn't give the necklace much thought. I do see your point. Thank you. Owen, Thanks! I am glad you like this. I think your image is rather good too. Thanks again everyone. I didn't think a simple portrait would attract so much attention. Link to comment

Guest Guest Posted April 6, 2010 It's not that a "simple portrait" (as you call it), draws that much attention...though it's not as "simple" as it might look at first glance...and the Rule of Thirds as it might apply to this shot is more or less immaterial to me. Most people think of compositional elements as forms and objects...and those are present here...but it's your use of colour, itself, as a compositional element of this photograph that grabs and holds my attention. Anyway, all of what I just wrote is saying that I like it a lot. Link to comment
davidmccracken 2 Posted April 6, 2010 Sumon, I think red always works well in photographs. Thanks. Jim, Kind words. Liking or not liking something is always allowed. It is always better to get an explanation why! Thanks for taking the time. Link to comment

dabar 0 Posted April 11, 2010 Ahhh... such subtle colors and textures in the mid-ground along with the balance provided by her eye and the fan. A Visual Delight!Makes me think of a Title Scene for a James Bond film! Link to comment
davidmccracken 2 Posted April 11, 2010 Kind words indeed Dave. I thought this portrait might attract some attention but maybe not as much as it has. I never thought of the James Bond connection but I do see it now. Thanks a lot! Link to comment
