The blurred trunks add both to the confusion and to the reality.

no this is not right. your eyes are looking for the focal point but cant find it then you loose interest in th image.

Hi Alpo- I appreciate the fact you took a risk with this one. It's an interesting picture. Part of me agrees with the comments of Jeff and Pierre. On the other hand there is something compelling about it. It would be interesting to see with a broader DOF as a comparison. A very creative addition. - Jim

This particular birch-forest has been one of my favourite photographing areas during the last four years. I return here about 5-10 times per year and try to find many different kind of light and weather variations. The owner of these trees removes the distracting branches away, keeping these trees trimmed. I do agree about the confusion and the effect of the blurred foreground trees, and that is just my main idea with this photo. If you take a look at this one: http://photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=6502806&size=lg you may find that I wanted to develop the original idea further at this photo.And there are some trees just in focus, at least in original photo. :-)
