1/2000 sec. I thought would never be short enough exposure to capture the wings of a humming bird so well!

Thanks Pierre! It's pure luck since the wings reached the maximum expansion and there's a short pause there before the back swing motion. Shutter speed can never truely freeze HB wings well, it's low power flash that will freeze the wings because of the flash duration. Take a look at the article from the link below :

I use to shoot with multple flashes to freeze the wings but you can only do that in shaded area and not in bright sunlight which will render the short flash duration useless.
