philpenne 0 Posted March 27, 2010 Like the shot overall. Agree with Arman that bears a passing resemblence to someone dead but, unlike Arman, that tends to lessen the charm of the image for me. Love the tonality, the arrangement of the hair is great, but would like to seen just a bit more depth of field to bring the breast into focus. As soon as I got to her one visible eye though it comes across to me as black and dead, giving an otherwise nice shot a bit of a creepy look. In retrospect, if her eyes had been closed I think that would have sealed the deal. Still in all, a nice image. Link to comment
GerrySiegel 868 Posted March 28, 2010 I will only offer my reaction to the framing of this shot. It is not close enough to be a face shot and not quite far enough to be any kind of torso image...if I make my point it is "in betweener" and my eyes seeks or wants to see just a little wee bit more of her hair and her right shoulder. A balance to the prominent breastworks on the left... What you got was nice, don't mistake me, just not quite enough to be fully balanced from where I sit..I wish you well and hope this is somewhat constructive to your efforts. gs Link to comment
davidmccracken 2 Posted March 28, 2010 Arman, I have to be honest and say I don't get the 'dead' connection here. However, you are not alone. You can probably tell from my answer that making her look dead was not my intention. That said, I am glad you like the image. Thanks. Phil, Thanks a lot for your opinion. It is interesting to read how other 'see' my images. I wouldn't agree with you on all the points you have made but if we all wanted to see things the same way, it would be a boring world. Gerry, Much of what I said to Phil applies to you. I really do appreciate different view points. I do understand where you are coming from and I thank you for taking the time to articulate them to me. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted March 29, 2010 I'm a Christian. Therefore I'm entitled to comment: Reminds me of Atahualpa somehow... The tiny lady is Gorgeous nevertheless... Link to comment
GerrySiegel 868 Posted March 29, 2010 Glad to be a part of your world, David. When I saw the title I looked for some connection and I still can't see the Christian part except for a trace of what appears to be a cross on the necklace. Sometimes I think that titling sets one off on the wrong chase, if you take my meaning. On second viewing I like the angle of her face and consider it a pretty good effort indeed. Be well and confident in your approach as you clearly are...aloha,gs Link to comment
davidmccracken 2 Posted March 29, 2010 Florin, Everyone is entitled to comment. She is gorgeous. Gerry, You are correct! The title has little to do with the image. I sometimes title images to see if they influence the comments. They sometimes do, but not here. However, the original title of this image ( http://photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=7258818 ) was Poohing a Pear. You can read the first few comments for yourself. Link to comment
owen_omeara 1 Posted March 29, 2010 David: Personally I like the framing of the image and you know I would like the tilt. You have handled the BW tones beautifully and the catch light in her right eye is wonderful. I have seen a lot of dead people in my life and she does not look dead to me. -Cheers mate Link to comment
