I return to this spot year after year (well, the last three years) and I never tire of this old oak standing there overlooking the central valley of California. It is my "Old Faithful" because it provides a reliable composition, especially in the spring. This year, there is a sizable hawks nest, so I hope to catch it one morning with the hawk perched on top. Last year I succeeded in catching one while he/she was waiting for a meal to scurry across the field. Fond memories abound here. Thanks for your time!

You are giving us two for the price of one here, Mark. The magnificent field of flowers tempts the eye to go no further, while the tree and sky have the potential to be a separate beautiful image.

Mark, you have studied this tree and field very well. You "own" them! Excellent composition, colors & DOF. Regards, Jeff

Thanks Radu, Adrienne, Zsolt and Marc. I appreciate the positive feedback on this one. I am hoping for at least a couple of more weeks of wildflowers before they start drying up. I will hate to see them go!

Mark, you and Carsten Ranke are probably the only two photographers who make me want to go out and experiment with wide lenses. My 28 sits in its bag and rarely see the light of day. These fields of flowers in delicate light are superb.
