The movie theatre concession was held up at 3D gunpoint. The thugs headed cross country to their hideaway up in the foothills, at which point they were engaged by the police in hot pursuit. The criminals knew that they were cornered, so they dispensed their bountiful booty out the windows. Things got ugly when the pursuing officers stopped to collect the incriminating evidence. By the time the investigators came along, all of the cache had been seized. The investigators soon found the police around the corner at Dunkin Donuts wallowing in high calorie confiscation. The thieves got away, but not before posting this cell phone shot on the internet, a grim reminder of this frightful day of cotton candy carnage! After gazing at the larger version I had to run for an hour to work off all those empty calories.

Another excellent shot from those incredible California foothills. It's times like this that I wonder why I ever moved away. I'll just have to be happy looking your awesome pics. Keep posting!

Thanks Linda and Marc. Linda, I love your descriptive wording, I actually had to google "lagniappe" because I am not familiar with it's usage. Works for me! Marc, I didn't know you were from round here. This is a real good time to be here; in 3 months I won't be making that same claim however. Hot and dry is the daily forecast by then!

Thanks Maurizio, Pierre, Paul, Falak and Margo. Margo, sorry to confuse you with my flighty imagination. This all got started when I was posting and thinking of identifying the various wildflowers. The white flowers are called "popcorn flowers" for obvious reason. Instead of being traditional, I chose instead to identify with the other flowers in the same manner as the popcorn flowers. The fiddlenecks became "cheese doodles" and the blue dicks became "bubble gum", therefore the story was born. Some might consider me "out there" when it comes to tradition! People like me "turn left" too often, we like to buck tradition to keep things fresh!

Absolutely gorgeous!! To me there is almost a spiritual quality to this image. As far as I'm concerned, you can keep bucking tradition! :-)

Wonderful warmth, depth , beauty and clarity. I could not find any popcorn, cheese doodles or bubble gum either. All a credit to a very talented photographer. Congrats! I see that Ross and I are aligned re comments and ratings.

Thanks Ross and Tony for the kind regards! The popcorn, cheese doodles and bubble gum become more apparent if you cross your eyes a little to make them blur. It also helps to have a quirky imagination!
