Kirklands Watersnake Eagle creeksmall

I came across this secretive Kirkland Water snake snake while doing

some field work in Central Indiana. This species is Endangered and in

Indiana is State listed so no attempts were made to handle or restrict

the snake in any way. It is a non aggressive snake (maybe it was too

cold!) and very small. likely no more than 14 inches (35 cm) in

length. The snake is only found across Indiana and Ohio and

regionally in S. Michigan, SE Wisconsin, E.Pennsylvania, and N.

Kentucky.

Interesting one. Good lighting.. nice background... I would have preferred the head looking at one side instead of in this angle..
