I'm a huge fan of black and white but I just don't think it works here. Because of the lack of any real focal point in the photograph, I think the color version would have held my interest more.

 

I would have included something more interesting in the foreground (maybe finding a boulder or even gotten down lower to exaggerate the size of some of the stones). Even tripod mounted the camera and included myself in the shot as a silhouette.

 

What you have here is a sky of average interest, rocks that don't have any kind of pattern or distinctive markings or shapes and a foreground (the land mass) that is pretty generic in its form to not hold my attention.

 

I find that I have to work very hard to make things interesting in black and white. It's a whole different approach for me and wide landscapes just have to have interesting textures or shapes. Otherwise there's no reason for me to look at it for more than a few seconds and move on.

 

I don't mean to be harsh but this is just how I see it.
