Comments, ratings appreciated on this seascape. What do you think

about the tree? I have other shots without it that focus more on the

rocks. Thanks.

It's a nice photo, but what I like least about the composition is that the most prominent seastack is centered. I'm also not sure about the centered amounts of sea and sky on either side of the land, and the cut off tree branches. Ignoring the tree's position, I think what I'd like best for the background would be a tighter shot around the sea stacks, with less sky. Would it have been possible to move backwards and use a longer lens, to get the same tree framing a tighter background view?

This is a potentially nice shot. There are a couple of problems that do need to be corrected though. The swath of land in the bottom left corner of the frame is very distracting and takes away from the overall aesthetic value of the image. You could correct this problem by shooting at a lower camera angle. Secondly, one of the basic rules in photography is crop it in or crop it out. Cropping the limbs partially out of the image is another distracting element. Move your camera angle to the left a bit next time.

Robert, the tree in the foreground is not strong enough to balance the rest of the picture and it does not work for me when a good part of base of the tree is missing. I prefer some ground to go with the tree, i.e. fore ground. Other than that it has a nice feeling, powerful image.

My favorite place to photograph on the coast. Lovely mist hanging in the air. The tree really gives a person an idea of the conditions in which you shot this in. Love it!
