carl_williams 0 Posted March 6, 2001 I think this one looks more striking than the other of the same subject but I'm not entirely sure why. Looks a bit more dramatic to me. I think the sea is just a bit better and the focus is on the bright gap between the rocks on the left. The rock on the right helps to frame things. In the other picture, the extra bit of bright sky to the left just looks more distracting. I notice this one's narrower top to bottom - have you cropped out some sky? I wonder how it'd look with perhaps a slivver off the bottom (up to the bit where the shadow on the sand has that horizontal kink in it) and a touch more sky? Link to comment
fatboab 1 Posted March 16, 2001 Try the old slow shutter speed to give the water that dreamy effect. Link to comment
Brian 836 Posted March 16, 2001 I have visited the twelve apostles a couple of times but have never managed to be there at sunset. I think you have got the exposure very well. The only thing I would say is it would have been good to get more of the apostles in shot. I know it isn't easy from down there on the beach. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted March 16, 2001 There is a feature like this off the Pacific NW coast of the US that EVERYBODY up there takes a shot of. Unfortunately, they all look alike after awhile. Your sky and foreground lighting are beautiful. I think an image of wet sand into water into sky, nothing else, would be very powerful, and very peaceful. I personally like the water detail. It depicts water as a mineral with texture, rather than as an amorphous gas. Link to comment
m_parr 0 Posted May 24, 2001 I like the composition of the shot - the angle of the rocks next to each other seems as if they were cut or separated from each other - foreground texture compliments the sky... Nice shot! Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted June 9, 2001 Nice shoot. I like the colours. I Think It is a bit Dark. I would have prefered it with a Slower Shutter. How did you take it anyway? Link to comment
bernhard 0 Posted June 18, 2001 Nice picture, but the sharpening is clearly overdone. I don't mind Photoshop, but it should not be the first thing in an image you notice. Link to comment
g1 0 Posted August 11, 2001 Looking at both versions, I prefer this shot. It leads the eye more successfully. Very pleasing result - however I would level the horizon as already mentioned. Otherwise fine as it is. Link to comment
mikelentz 0 Posted August 26, 2001 Very Nice. I wish I had access to such beautiful scenery. Aesthetically, the only thing wrong with this image is . . . . . I'm not there ;) Thanks for sharing this beautiful view. Link to comment
mbrown 1 Posted August 30, 2001 I have made a few of the suggested changes. What do you thimk? Comments/ratings always appreciated. Link to comment
