Emmanuel Enyinwa 0 Posted March 13, 2010 This was a very challenging image to make on a difficult day, as I shot it from the drivers seat in a car stopped momentarily in traffic through the interior of the car, and through a steady drizzle. It is a testament to my equipment that I was able to catch that which arrested my eye. I had hoped to stay at the intersection of Powell and Post and record street movements in the rain, but, alas, Gabriel was with me. He refused to stay in the car by himself (who can blame the kid), and when he came out, he protested the wind and rain (and, who can blame him, either). So, to make a tedius story less so, we bundled back up in the car and headed back down Powell Street, where I caught this fisherman contemplating his latest catch (I wonder if he was considering throwing it back). To round out the yarn, I moseyed on (can you mosey in a car?) to a restaurant where I got Gabriel a light meal and tried to shoot from the window as I sat next to him. But no sooner had I done that than two tow truck drivers pulled up next to my car that was parked in yellow and tried to make hay while the rain fell. I promptly ran out, nose flaring, but no mane flowing (sorry, 20 years late), bundled myself and my boy into the car and left their crazy city to them. All in all, a smashing, or is it splashing, good time was had by none. Link to comment
gajbarker 0 Posted March 13, 2010 I have looked at this shot a number of times today. I am attracted by the colours and by trying to figure out what has transpired. Well done! Link to comment
bob_belanger 1 Posted March 13, 2010 Great story. So often we lose sight of the associated mayhem that acompanies a photographic foray. Your word do it justice. Link to comment
Funtak 0 Posted March 14, 2010 Looks like the man is resting his eyes on a comforting green colour.. Link to comment

elportebonheur 0 Posted March 14, 2010 Nice story too... Hard times? All green at the moment. Very well captured and presented. Compliments, nice cadid! Link to comment
adan1 0 Posted March 17, 2010 Considering the circumstances I think you did a spendid job and the title is right on the money (no pun intended). Hard times indeed as tips these days are not as free flowing as back in the 80's or during the dot,net boom. The diagonal perspective is eye catching and the luxury logo of the hotel on the side is strategically placed - without it the strength of this image will be lessened. Hope everything is well and I would like to see you one of these days as well. Link to comment
amalsircar 2 Posted March 20, 2010 Emmanuel, admirable candid shot from a car without any preparation. Very good composition, colors and control of light & exposure. Is he counting his blessings? Link to comment
Emmanuel Enyinwa 0 Posted March 20, 2010 Interesting that it takes a sage like yourself to see the symbol of the image. Indeed, that was my first impression when I saw him, that he is possibly counting his blessings in these tough times. The colors, the composition (it was pouring rain and the colors were naturally enhanced that day) all appealed to me, but it was the man, his expression and his poring over these one dollar notes that caught my attention. Like I said, I was lucky to catch it, as he turned and walked back up the stairs in a matter of seconds. Link to comment
