This is beautiful light. The composition, though, isn't particularly striking. I've struggled with this myself, and sometimes there is no good composition that also captures the light the way you want it. But maybe having more of the tree in the frame, or a lower vantage point (which I guess would also address getting more of the tree into the frame) would have helped.

 

I'd be curious to see what others say, since I suspect I'll find myself faced with a similar challenge again. :-)

Michael Mixon has a point but the photographer can only work with what is at hand. Having stated that, my eye does wander about looking for something to rest on. There is a mood here, but the large dark shadow in the FG is at odds with the warmth and brightness behind. I don't know, I'm still drawn to this image.
