whydangle 0 Posted March 9, 2010 A perfectly executed photograph of an intriguing subject. The colors might be bordering on too far, but I think you have found the upper limits of acceptable. Very interesting and your timing is profound! Link to comment
ldavidson 4 Posted March 10, 2010 Tim this is amazing. I have never seen anything like this chunk of ice, sitting and melting on top of the old warf. I looked at it larger and really appreciate the clairity and detail as well as the beauty. It is beautifully composed. Lake Michigan has been a source of so many wonderful images for you. Very well done. Best wishes, Linda Link to comment
lizweisiger 0 Posted March 10, 2010 Tim, I know this is a good capture, because you took it. I do like the bold tones and contrasts. However, I still don't know what I am looking at. I can't get a feeling for what the "ice sculpture" is, and how it came to balance there. I love the tones as well. Link to comment

tholte 16,401 Posted March 10, 2010 Thanks for the comments! Liz, these are some pilings from an old dock. They are covered for most of the winter with ice and snow. It has been warm lately so most of the ice is melted. Link to comment
jmarcraveau 0 Posted March 10, 2010 Impressive image. The colors are really beautiful. Great composition too. Regards, Jean-Marc Link to comment
LindaM 2 Posted March 10, 2010 I don't remember any "sea-monsters" in the lake when I lived in Michigan. The pilings look like old dinosaur bones. Wonderful image Tim. Link to comment
bretsch 0 Posted August 20, 2010 What a wonderful place on earth this is, and how masterfully you've captured it. This has all that a great landscape photograph needs to be great; no wonder it is so much photographed as you’ve said. I’m sure though, that yours far surpasses other photos taken there. Cheers!
