Relations ( with a "cat'...)

It is a visit of a group of children( about 30 of them) with some of their mothers,( and Mesila social workers and some women Org members) belonging to the refugees and work searchers community in my country. We have arranged this visit ( Soroptimist woman org.) to the Zeology garden in the Tel Aviv University, as a holiday activity ( Purim, is a national holiday which children and adults are disguised ) . it was a very rewarding visit for all participants, especially for the children.

I liked that each of them have only one eye shown; they are too dependent on each other to have a better view of the world...

A cat that's missing its two front teeth. This is a lovely moment, perfectly captured, that reads the same the world over.

Bob, glad to see you again, it is not the child's mother, it is Mesila social worker that accompanied the group with us , it is the same girl as here( and what is Mesila explanation):

Bulent, thanks for your nice evaluation, I think that the social workers of Mesila are doing a great Job with these children, as this photo shows.

The child is quite cute, but I'm drawn to the hint of the mother's smile.

This photograph captures the style of communication that goes hand in hand with children - eyes wide open, fingers splayed in a dramatic gesture, wonderment over everything and anything bigger. What a lovely way to celebrate Purim.

A beautiful work indeed; I for one think its attraction comes out of the intimacy of the shot, making us feel like we’re right there, sharing that magic moment between the girl and this woman….those messing teeth by the way, making it even more touching. Cheers!

Jeff, my preface was a bit misleading, (I have added some more info.) this is not her mother but a social workers from the Org.that have joined the visit and is having very nice relation with the children .

 

Michael, thanks, It really was a nice way to celebrate Purim, the children were born here and are going to kinder gardens and schools here . So the celebrate Purim as well.

An image that touches me deeply. The fact that so many humans do not or cannot nurture and properly care for their offspring is something that breaks my heart on a daily basis.

Beautiful touching and intimate moment between this child and the Social Worker who truly seems to really care for this little one....the love and wonder is in their faces. You certainly had good timing, to capture this one so well...congrats from Gail

 

You present this girl as vulnerable and warmly cared for; the connection between the two is strong, their facial expressions poignant. But what makes this so beautiful is your presence in this photograph, which goes far beyond documenting a caring moment between grownup and child; it shows your commitment and involvement in projects that uplift and connect. In the oeuvre of your work – Holocaust memorials, presentation of Ethiopian Jews, Darfur refugee children in Israel, and now MELISSA... -- you effectively show your world through children. The shadowy back stories are there, I think for contrast, storytelling, and historical context, but, as in your dance work, you focus on lyricism.

Gail ,you are right about the touching relation, that I liked so much as well. I think that timing is important for what you want to express.

 

Donna, thanks for a very nice and warm evaluation ,I try to be present in all my work, in some it will be more felt than in others . Your using the word Lyricism is a wonderful compliment , as I don't label my work , I just try to be honest to my feelings about life, human relations, creation and expression. I'm very thankful to you for seeing my work as such, as it connects it to music and poetry in a photographic form. Thanks for a very nice ( as always) written evaluation.

Pnina, cool image,portraying the eternal sweet relation & bond of a child with her mother. A fitting tribute to all the mothers on the 100th anniversary of International Women's Day .I admire your images, for you always blend real life with fine arts, like painting & music. I have observed that many photographers pander to the baser instincts to sell their images. But your images are ''l'art pour l'art''.

Checking you out this morning. Missed this one last year apparently. Sure like the expression on the child's face, and it tugged at my heartstrings. All the more so since I've been on the road and find myself missing my grandchildren a lot. Take care.
