Critiques welcome. I like the brown strip at the top (shoreline) as

repetition of the wooden perch as to the crop/composition. Not sure it

works overall though. Thanks.

A nice shot of the bird and also very good use of space. i don't think that's something seen too often with bird shots, which tend towards action or specimen shots. well done.

I like the brown strip at the top too -- it adds to the overall composition of your photo, which is very good, I think. 'Less is often more' I believe, and I think that certainly goes for your photo composition here :-) -- Compliments!

Charles, a really fine image. Great composition. I definitely like the out of focus shore line at the top. Your comp wouldn't work nearly as well without it. Nice, nice work.
