Normally I don't like shots of pictures at all (sorry :) but this one has a lot of visual impact. Very clean and sharp; cropped very intelligently. Love those eyes!

I actually didn't have to crop this one. This is full frame. I was pleased after I first viewed it that I had included the cuff of the sweater around her arm on the right. The red of the sweater and the magenta/red hat really framed her nicely.

Originality in the portrait world...I guess originality isn't the best

judje of this type of portrait. Yeah, its been done before, the

close-up baby-face with big blue eyes. Still, it's (photo.net) an

enjoyable forum for posting all categories of images. I hope the

Portrait Photographers out there enjoy this one.

I'm not a portrait photographer Rick, still I enjoyed this shot very much. Excellently framed, beautifuly lighted... I love those blue eyes and that clever look. Really, some kids are happier than the other, to have dads that are great at taking pictures. :)

I appreciate the comments. I post what I feel are my best shots and I like to show and share them with other members. I accept all intelligent comments good or bad. I've already seen much improvement in my photos just based on knowledge that I've learned here from comments and posts concerning both my photos and the photos of others.

I find it hard to stop looking at this shot. The eyes command, of course, but the palette is the real hook. We've got white skin with bluish overtones and subtle pink accents. The pink combines with the blue and goes into the color of the hat. Marvelous interplay of color! My quibble is that the child's right sleeve is red with no blue in it, which violates the scheme a bit.

Really good portrait. It`s just very appealing --- cute kid, good composition, great contrast between the blue eyes and red. Although not very original I`m still giving a 7 for originality because, to tell you the truth, about 1/2 percent of all photos taken are original. It`s the technical details that count.

Have you tried converting this to Black & White, Rick ? Nothing wrong with the colors here, by I feel that they are just taking emphasis from the fantastic expression you grabbed here. Give ita try - be it just for me :-) - and if you like it, try uploading it maybe... I suspect the response would be even better. Regards.

Just perfect. This is one of those cases where a b&w is as good as colour but for different reasons. The red is such a great complement to the blue eyes, but does take attention away from them a bit. The eyes really hold your attention in the b&w. Can't choose between them. Lighting, composition and pose couldn't be better imo.
