Viewing in larger size, this image is more amazing. I think that biologysts or scientists are more than happy seeing this kind of image, a real macro piece of art

Incredible detail and clarity ! and captured in this position too! Wow! The only other observation that I would make, is that I really want to see the rest of the fly where it dissapears on the right hand bottom of the frame, but that could just be a very clever ploy to leave your audience wanting more!

Fantastic image by any standard!

Outdid yourself on this one. Not my thing, but it is as good as any macro I've seen. Would've liked to see the entire abdomen, but that is a small thing.

Excellent cpture as always. No doubt about the beauty, clearity and sharpness of the phots, but as the others stated, I also like the see the rest of the body of the rubberfly. Congrats ... Max.

Chris, I bet you are a hoot to watch chasing bugs around the neighborhood with your camera. What do your neighbors think? I mean unless they see the end result they must just think your a mad man. Your images are wonderful and a delight to look at. I love little critters as long as they stay outside. Thanks for sharing.

Absolutely amazing macro photo. Outstanding... The only thing I don't like is the red line on the border, but obviously in this case it is a minor issue. Congrats.

Argghh! You can feel the pain here. Beautiful shot. Not sure why you cropped out the rest of the fly. Guessing that you wanted to focus on the detail of the action, that works too. Very well done brother Chris!

Wow. Chris you are one of the photographers that I don't get tired of watching pictures of. They are always top notch not just in quality but content.

Thanks for including the meta data. 1.3 Sec That seems like an very long exposure seems like this little ones were not moving.

Jus great

I truly appreciate your comments. The reason for the crop was the duration of this shot allowed the movement of his abdomen. Just from him breathing. Here is what it looked like before the crop.

Thanks again for your time.

great capture , i think this is more beautiful in uncroped version that you`ve posted and the importent thing is that the eyes of these two are completly in focus . any way this is outstanding macro shot in exposure , focus and clarity . you always capture your macro shots with exposure times about one second , how much time you spend on this shots to use tripod and your subjects dont run away ??!!!!!!!!!

best regards <<<>>>

This is an amazing shot Christopher! Thanks for sharing. I don't mind the crop and am glad to see it a little larger like it is to see more detail. Very inspiring, and I hope that someday I might be able to do something as good as this! Congrats!

I am a longtime observer of nature. Robberflies are in the upper echelon of insect predators. Your image is self explanatory... Is there a better vantage point? I know , its hard enough to get what you did. :) . you do excellent work. I have all freely available photos. thanks much
