It has the right title, it is a funny duo, very colorful ( with a "wonderful"taste....;-)) and decorated, but their expressions.... is ... ( like angry on the entire world....). My nit is the PP.... needs some darker hue and contrast, the whole is a bit "pale". I like the moment, especially the woman's crowned face....

She is a pale, pale moon shining grimly over a black sky of polyester. The smallest part of his head is his cranium, screwed into that glittery hat. My midwestern relatives would look at their faces and proclaim, "They're positively giddy!" (My wife jokes that my mom's smile is about as flat as the Illinois skyline). I love the title.

If this is the persona of America, we're in deeper trouble than I thought (and just when you figured it couldn't get any worse). The whole thing is right out of Wonderland and this is definitely the Mad Hatter's Tea Party. How fitting.

Jeff - "...flat as the Illinois skyline." LOL

Seeing it now in daylight it looks better (contrast....) than yesterday evening....I still appreciate your sharp eye.;-))

You know things are not right when a provocative picture like this gets such a limited response. I was really looking forward to more discussion of this photo which I think is as good a picture of our current time and situation as I've seen in a while. At this writing, 49 people have viewed this photo and 3 have taken the time to leave a response. I know we're all busy and I know the mood of the world is pretty sour but come on, people!

I'm okay with the fact that my stuff is not ever going to be popular. I don't know if it is because the material is not resonating, or I'm just a lousy photographer. And, frankly, I've tried not to delve into the answer to that conundrum because I fear it may be the latter. I'm doing my best to enjoy the art. Sure, everybody wants acclaim and fame, but, at my age, I've come to realize that I shall most likely labor in obscurity.

I imagine that if I put this into the "nude" category, it would get a whole lot more views. But I don't suppose anyone would believe me if I said these folks weren't wearing any clothes below the waist. Then again, they might be relieved to know it was a lie. ☺

P S: and at least the three who have taken the trouble to comment are well recognized successes on Photonet, and people for whom I have a great deal of respect. That's some measure of validation I guess.

If this is how they party for Mardi Gras, I can't imagine how miserable they must be for lent. Maybe she's angry because somebody stole her Zulu coconut.

I don't think your'e a lousy photorapher at all Dave. FWIW the thing I enjoy most about your work is the way you portray the culture and those within it around you. Something that has been obvious to me since I first saw your work a year or so ago. I just think people dont stop for a moment to feel something anymore....maybe why some don't see the mark of what you are showing....? far be it from me to say...but I think on this subject more and more these days... Keep em coming man :)

The title is hilarious !! . . . The image is hilarious . . . Lots of empty h..... . . . What should I say? . . . . You know your subject. Bravo David, bravo.

This remind me of a book, just finished reading. HUMAN DEVOLUTION Michael A. Cremo.

David... you have no idea how much I enjoy your work.

Your "people" captures are among the best.

Kudos

Wonderfully composed and captured! The couple's colorful attire contrasts well with their bored and slightly annoyed expressions, and your title fits this perfectly. I was initially thinking that this image would have been (more) striking in B&W because of their strong facial expressions, but on 2nd thought, your decision to present this in color was absolutely the right one, as their colorful attire really is completely essential to the ambivalent ambiance your photo conveys... Best regards to you, Marjolein
