alfbailey 1 Posted February 27, 2010 When I looked at the monitor on the back of my camera, I thought the images I had taken this day looked awful, and was consequently feeling a bit down, but when I downloaded them to my PC they looked totally different. There must be a motto here ...something like "Never trust your monitor" Your thoughts and observations are always appreciated. Thank You. Link to comment
stp 6 Posted February 27, 2010 Trust your eyes, only your eyes, never a small screen on a camera. This is quite nice. The diagonal and diminishing line of dark poles amid an entire composition of blue and white is great. Link to comment
photo by patsy dunn 1 Posted February 27, 2010 Alf, " Stunning" I needed that this morning. I love the peaceful feel you get when you look at this image. Thanks for sharing. Take care, Patsy Link to comment
JimCowan 0 Posted February 27, 2010 This is beautiful! You have created a captivating image, I think this would make a terrific large print. Jim Link to comment
Not Here 93 Posted February 27, 2010 Alf... Dramatic and mysterious and very well presented. If you have other shots of this scene, a composition of just the rocks and water would be interesting as well... Excellent stuff... Mike Link to comment
Christal1664882414 0 Posted February 27, 2010 This is absolutely stunning! You have every shade of blue.....blue-gray, blue-green, royal blue, and purplish blue as well. I love the shutter speed you've selected, and the pilings make for a very dynamic shot. You've composed this brilliantly. If I were to be really picky, I'd remove whatever it is on the horizon.....can't tell.....is it a bridge or high tension wires? I don't see land there, so I'm not sure what it is. But your image has such an other-worldly feel to it that I think it would be better to not see any sign of civilization. Also, just to the left of the slanted piling is another 'blemish' that I would also remove. If you were to enlarge this (which would be magnificent), then it may make sense to consider removing the things I've mentioned. But at this size you hardly see them, and it certainly doesn't detract from this very fine image. Bravo! Link to comment
papasan 0 Posted February 28, 2010 This is absolutely beautiful Alf. I love the hues of blue and the water blur. The colors in the stones in the foreground are just captivating the eye. Nice composition with the pillars leading the eye towards the center of the picture, too bad there wasn't any thing of interest there to capture the eye. Although the sky does a pretty good job at it. Lovely colors and light. Great image - michel Link to comment
jorge_fernandez3 0 Posted February 28, 2010 Beautiful soft colors, and a great contrast with the black posts. Warm regards. Link to comment

pfranklin 0 Posted March 1, 2010 ….and Socks...hope they didn't get wet!! Very well captured Alf….glad that you weren’t too quick hitting the dump button! Lovely hues of blue and the water blur. The colors in the stones in the fg are a visual feast for my eyes. Nicely composed and well done on the pp work. All the best, Pamela Link to comment

alfbailey 1 Posted March 2, 2010 STEPHEN That sounds like very good advice, I hear you, I think I'll just look at the histogram in future. Thank you for your observations and kind comments. A N Surreal errrm yeah! I suppose you just had to be there : - ) DR DIDI Thank you! PATSY Always good to hear from you and I'm really pleased you like it, Thank you! JIM Thank you for looking in, and for your kind and encouraging comments. MICHAEL I did take numerous shots the same evening at this location, but the beach is dotted with all kinds of groynes and posts so I don't know if I managed to get one, with just the sea and rocks, but if I find one, I shall post it! Thanks for stopping by Mike and for your kind comments. MAURIZIO Thank you for your very kind comments CHRISTAL Thank you for all your feedback, much appreciated! The things on the far horizon that you can see are offshore wind turbines, this part of the coast is dotted with them, and the other item is a marker post. I can see where you are coming from in relation to the "other worldly" theme, as it is a sentiment I share a great deal of the time whan taking photographs, but the wind turbine is here to stay and it's difficult to avoid them, but yeah I would probably remove them if I was going to print it large. Thanks again Christal. MICHEL Thank you for your observations and kind comments, I really liked the sky too. Much appreciate your feedback. STU Thank you for stopping by, much appreciated. JORGE Thank you for your kind comments, I did manage to lighten the posts in "Lightroom" but decided they looked better dark as I agree they contrast well with the rest of the image. PAMELA Theres many a time I've returned home with a soggy one..... yes sock of course! :- ) I have to admit, I don't delete much, even some of the very early clumsy attempts at from 2 years ago continue to clutter my hard drive, but I'm not sorry because it is a good reference point when I'm trying to guage my own progress. Really pleased you liked it Pamela, thank you for your very kind comments. JANIS Thank you, very kind of you! BOBBY Thank you for your very kind comments, much appreciated. FALAK Thank you for looking in, and for your kind comments JOHN Thank you for your very kind comments, I love the light that you get at Llandulas in the evening, and the various groynes and pilings make good subject matter.
