I prefer this B & W to your previous colour version. I think the portrait gains in forcefulness and brings out better the character of the man.

Contrast is too harsh... Try toning it down a bit, spot out the hot spot on his nose, and you may have a really good shot here.

In my opinion this picture is an artistic expreression and artist used contrast to do that. Changing it would be like repainting some of the classic masterpieces.

You know the black and white is much more dramatic than the color where the colour represents a nice show of the Rembrandt lighting effect there is so much more to the black and white for me... I am hooked lately on Black and White work, take a look at El Porte work sometimes she is on the spot!

This portrait really stands out in your portfolio Bill in my opinion. I think that this version (B & W) is much better than the colour one, and suits the subject much better. This photo really transmits the character of the subject. Very good job Bill.
