gunnar1664882369 1 Posted February 27, 2010 Hi Andrea, no, I didn´t shoot this photo for the reasons you pointed out. I was long time on upper balcony and was waiting that at least someone is coming, at least someone will stop for a few seconds. I was just lucky with this guy. I also see the similarities and looks like this is a portrait of this man. This is the face of Lenin on the painting. The photo is taken on the exhibition of Estonian art and design of 1970s/1980s (under the Soviet regime). The face of Lenin was more or less obligatory in art that time. The face of Lenin was everywhere - on main squares of towns, in classrooms, in factories, in hotels lobby rooms, in your office, etc. Lenin is watching you and shining for Soviet people:-). As on this painting Lenin´s face is even above the Sun:-). In my interpretation the man is looking at the painting and remember these times under Soviet regime and occupation. That´s why "Memories of past time". Link to comment

vadima 0 Posted March 14, 2010 Very strong pic, Gunnar, I think your idea is fulfilled just right. I also grew up with this bandit's face hanging on every wall. To follow up on this theme I attach a photo I took 1.5 years ago in Latvia with a big billboard advertising a similar exhibition. Hope you will find it entertaining. Cheers, Vadim Link to comment
