sid747 0 Posted February 19, 2010 Everything seems to fit well into the scene - the location of the men, the tire and fence, the winding road, the car, the trees. Nice and sharp even with the rain. Link to comment

KenPapai 37 Posted March 1, 2010 Optimism: heading for a picnic despite the pouring rain! Nice, humorous photo. Well defined rain shower too. Link to comment
carbon_dragon 547 Posted March 1, 2010 Well executed technically, sharp, center of interest comfortably off center but leading to the approaching car down the road. Makes you wonder about the story of the photograph. Who are these guys and why are they walking down the road? Are they hitchhiking? Also hard to get rain to look good and assuming it's not some clever photoshop trick (in which case, great trick) extra points for shooting in inclement conditions. Link to comment
stp 6 Posted March 2, 2010 I feel as though I'm looking at half of the photo. The guy on the left is obviously talking to someone, and that unseen person really influenced the composition. If a person had an angry, or frightened, or surprised expression but we couldn't see what was provoking the reaction, that would bother me. Same here. Maybe even more so because anger, fright, or surprise can sometimes be a subject in its own right, but that's harder to say about a casual, passing conversation. In my mind I imagine the two guys simply walking, perhaps gesturing toward the sky, perhaps conversing with each other, or perhaps looking at the camera with one of several possible expressions, and I'd look at that and see a more complete photo. I just don't get that when an ordinary but important influence is just beyond the frame, at least not with this particular photo. How much and what qualities can be omitted, or left to the imagination, and still have a "complete" photo or story? Link to comment
