The starkness of the snow really lends itself to many interpretations of where this could be set.... might just be my less-than-friendly feelings about winter, but a holiday resort was not my first guess! The shadows and treeline on the right side of the photo really add interest to this photo, although I find the white nothingness to the left of the cabins a little strange. Was there nothing there? This place was build as a timber floating and sorting plant in 1861 and was in use til 1985. The river is under ice as we have had some degrees below zero for some time now. I just arrived to this place as the morning mist withdrew and the sun started to get through. The left bank of the river is still hidden by the mist. Link to comment
