LenMarriott 9 Posted February 16, 2010 Yah, no guts, no glory! Nice of you to stop by for a look at this old but favoured (by me) offering. Best, LM. Link to comment
human images 2 Posted February 16, 2010 Gates are for the oldies!!! ... K's got it absolutely right... ;-) good comp Len. Link to comment
LenMarriott 9 Posted February 16, 2010 I'm always grateful for your comments. "....gates are for oldies....". Guess I qualify. This square was cropped from the original rectangular negative. I have an adapter for my Rollei T which allows 16 frames to a roll of 120 film. (1 5\8 x 2 1\4) It would appear that no matter the shape of the negative, when handling a Rollei one's vision goes square. :-) Best, LM. Link to comment
human images 2 Posted February 16, 2010 Len... i just turned sixty the other day and I think that qualifies me as well as legitimate member of the old fogies' club, don't you? I feel pretty good about it too -- signs of maturity are finally beginning to show and all. So let us relax and dig the future... The best is yet to be. Link to comment
jeff.grant 0 Posted February 18, 2010 Time for another old fogey to chime in, I can see why you'd like this Len. It's a great capture of her expression and a moment in memory. Link to comment
greg mccracken 12 Posted February 18, 2010 Yes, another great story, Len. It takes me back to my fence climbing days in the 60's! Link to comment
andrea-de-bonis 6 Posted February 18, 2010 ciao, len, so is this a photo of the 1969? well, we can see this only for the rollei and is grey tones. otherwise is an universal photo, couls be shooted today. you catched here the perfect moment, the expression of the child is "the photo" Link to comment
LenMarriott 9 Posted February 18, 2010 Well, if the gods allow, I'll be turning 70 later this year so 60 is looking good to me. In the Old Fogy Brotherhood I guess that makes me a senior. Maturity? Well, I'm still working on that. The past was a blast but I'm looking to the future like I've always done. Always a pleasure. Best, LM. Link to comment
LenMarriott 9 Posted February 18, 2010 How's the summer going down under? It's freezing up here. Thanks for your interest in this oldie. It's over 40 years old but a fine photo is a fine photo no matter it's age. I've sent a copy to this 'little' girl who now has little ones that are older than she was in this shot. I have a couple of others to post on this theme so stay tuned. Best, LM. Link to comment
LenMarriott 9 Posted February 18, 2010 Nice to see that you still grace us with your presence. Always good to hear from you. But I know you can still climb a mean fence and crawl a mean canyon, on wounded feet even. Looking forward to a get together when the weather is more civil. Best, LM. Link to comment
LenMarriott 9 Posted February 18, 2010 It seems I did my best work in the distant past. I've been coasting for quite a while now. Still, the interest is still there so maybe I'll get lucky and get some new stuff worth posting. I wonder what Jay Maisel would think of the 'gesture' in this one? Best, LM. Link to comment
jeff.grant 0 Posted February 21, 2010 Summer still has a way to run, Len. It's been over 30c today and the same tomorrow. I can hardly wait for it to cool down a bit.I wouldn't mind betting that your subject is delighted to have this now. Link to comment
LenMarriott 9 Posted February 21, 2010 Yes, it's been fun resurrecting images from over 40 years ago and, to date. I'm sure many in my family thought 'Why is he always taking pictures?'. At the time I probably wasn't even sure what motivated me, but now, in retrospect, the reason is becoming clearer. For this little girl & her family the benefits are obvious. Best, LM. LenMarriott 9 Posted April 25, 2010 OK, so it's an oldie. Let's hear your comments or suggestions on how you would improve this image. Best, LM. Link to comment
hoosier 0 Posted April 25, 2010 Sorry for turning this into an AARP support group.(65) Your oldie but very goodie has encouraged me to submit some of my tintypes. I hope I can find one half as good as yours. Thanks for the inspiration. Don't trust anyone under 55 ;) Link to comment
kathyb 34 Posted April 26, 2010 Len, This is a great shot! And thank God I will be 55 in a few months! LOL WIth much effort, I got AARP to stop sending me their junk mail. Link to comment
LenMarriott 9 Posted April 26, 2010 LOL ! Tintypes indeed! Geeze, surely we're not THAT old. As for finding one at least half as good, well, your own portfolio is nothing to sneeze at. Some fine offerings there. Got you bookmarked for further study. Too much high quality work there to properly absorb in only one visit. And don't worry about the AARP support group. I need all the support I can get. :-) Thanks for chancing by. Best, LM. Link to comment
LenMarriott 9 Posted April 26, 2010 Soon be 55? Kathy! This is the internet! Now the whole world knows and surely someone will advance your name to the AARP organization and you'll be right back on their mailing list again. :-) Thanks for your validation. Best, LM. Link to comment
kathyb 34 Posted April 26, 2010 Len, I have an idea! Now that this little girl is all grown up, do you think you could get her to pose again straddling the fence? That would be sooooooooo funny! Link to comment
LenMarriott 9 Posted April 26, 2010 Simply locating the fence would be a chore today. Convincing her to wear the little mini skirt would probably be tougher. :-) Best. LM. Link to comment
