John, are you purposely screwing around with our minds. Quite a picture. I don't want the magician to reveal his tricks but if you have something you'd like to say about this, I'd be interested.

A most ingenius use of colour, shapes and light, all conspiring to produce a thought provoking image, now is it just me, or does that crack/ lightning refelction in the window look like a profile of a mans face c/w hooked nose and prominent adams apple?

Nice work John!

Gentlemen, I'm sincerely happy to see that you enjoyed this one...and I wish that I could offer an interesting story behind the shot. The truth is, this is a composite of two shots...merging with the magic of Photoshop. (using my minimal PS skills) The house was shot in a historic section of Chattanooga, Tn. (my home town). I once aspired to be an architect...but plans changed...my love of architecture didn't. So, I was just bored and looking through old photographs and decided to see what I could come up with using the b&w photo of the house...and a colorful, lightning filled sky. (the sky was shot from the balcony of my home during a recent storm). Wish there was something more profound to share...but it's just the product of me screwing around....

Thanks to each of you!

John

Luca...I can see your "man"! I didn't notice anything til you pointed it out...but quite often I see such shapes and forms. In fact there's an outline of a "hippie smoking weed from a bong"....on the floor of my hallway bathroom. You can't see it unless you're seated on the convenience.....lol ! I'll try to get a pic of that "dude" and see if it's just your...or he's really there!

regards my friend,

John

I'll join in on this one. Excellent creation. It played with my brain too I think because the creation is done so well it is believable.

Hi John:  Thanks for your recent comment on my "Under the Golden Arches" image.  I've enjoyed going through your photos and this one really caught my eye.  I enjoyed reading the critiques and the method you used to capture this wonderful image.  I wonder what you might title this one?  I too am a vivid dreamer...I look forward to seeing more of your digital art.  Greetings from the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, Rebekah B.

Contrived - and not well at that. Sorry. An honest appraisal. Good technique but you missed. You obviously have a following!

Steve, While I truly appreciate blunt, honest, & even harsh critique...without offering the slightest clue as to why you feel my little picture has failed so abysmally...there's no value to what you've said.  As far as it being "contrived", of course it is! As far as I'm concerned there's nothing wrong with contrived photographs, unless a person tries to pass them off as something else...which I clearly didn't do.  Seeing that you're a photography instructor, I was quite surprised to see your method of offering a critique. I have a hard time believing that you would use this approach in appraising the work of one of your students. Feel free to tell my where I went wrong, how I could improve the photograph...I'm all ears.  As is, your comments just come off as insults, and nothing more.  Sorry. Just an honest appraisal.
