I'm afraid to ask. This image strikes me on a emotional level right away. However I assume it's a baby sleeping near it's father???

My hope is same as Robert's - my fear is that there is some bitter truth...

Very strong and moving photo. To me two aspects stand out: first the grown up person (or feet and hand), standing and touching the baby rather in manner like waking it up (or testing whether it's alive still?!) - so no father or mother who would act more affectionate. Second, the baby's missing right sock juxtaposed with the withered leaf underlining the desperate situation.

Is this child deceased? It does not look malnourished, but disease might not be apparent.

Regardless, it is a painful image to look at, regardless of the status of the child.

We must view images such as this........no matter how difficult.......Their world........and ours..........where nothing is close to being similar....except for love.....it must have been so difficult for you photographing these poor souls...especially the infants.......sad...but well documented...sincerely, Gail

Your pictures from India are incredible. It is very sad that things like that happen anywhere and especially in a country that is planning space exploration.

In this day and age, with so much wealth in the world, its not just India its everywhere even in western countries.Does not say much for mankind,we are all broken people in a broken world,we talk but do nothing, then plonk ourselves down in front of the TV with a packet of snacks.
