beautiful intense portrait , few essential colors , and a secret plus : the silouette telling a story ...

Just one thing : in my opinion the whole silouette is not essential , so you can probably cut the bottom end of the picture in order to emphasize the main subject eyes . Anyway a great shot. regards

Very strong portrait, I have to laugh as I spent some time just looking at it and deciphering what I was seeing. I felt rather clever as I noted the silhouette and decided it was of a young woman. Then of course, my eyes drifted downward and I read your title, which gave me the key so much faster.

To me, the light is very special here, it's so soft and even, it really has a beautiful quality. I'm only now moving into trying to understand light and how it affects a photograph as opposed to my usual haphazard approach to snapping shots. What I like about this light beyond it's soft, very natural look is that it so perfectly illuminates everything, yet we still have beautiful shadows and depth and sculpting from the way it hits this young man's face.

Good looking young man, great expression and I like his eyes. The young woman in shadow just adds a touch of magic that lifts this portrait above the very good.

Mark, I like this photo because it reminds me of the day I took it. Our Milwaukee flickr group had our monthly walk and I decided to just shoot people. The light, as you noted, was beautiful and I saw a group of young people and asked if I could take their photos. They all said yes so I photographed them as a group and then shot them individually.

A very honest portrait. I admire the simplicity and candor of this image...I think it is tougher to make a natural light portrait look as "impressive" as a studio lit portrait, but you have done it here. The use of the serendipitous shadow enhances the compassion and depth of this portrait. Good work, Tim.

this is a nice portrait with both expressive eyes and facial expression. His questioning and friendly gaze comes right across with that shadow as a great bonus. Vezo has got a point though, although I'm sure you considered it.

Ton, the shadow makes this portrait in my opinion. I can see how others may not agree with me and they may be correct but I am a stubborn kind of guy and that's my story and I am sticking to it.

sorry Tim, I think maybe I wasn't that clear. Of course the shadow makes that photo but what I meant was that Vezo's remark of cropping it at top might put a bit more emphasis on that.

Anf btw, it's never being stubborn merely knowing what you want.
