Yep It's that lonely tree again, strange thing is, I didn't notice the "halo"

until I started processing it, the last image was a lot closer and was a

HDR processed image, this is a single exposure just processed in

lightroom and PS. Your thoughts and comments are always appreciated

That lonely old tree works very well for me Alf. Love the way you composed the shot and the handling of the lighting is great. The bright sky and the dark, but detailed foreground, excellent. A beautiful landscape scenery. Take good care my dear friend and all the best from Jannica in a very cold and snowy sweden. Worst (or best if you`re 6 years old and like to ride a sledge) winter in 25 years :-))

Very nice and what a great surprise for you to see when looking at your photos from that shoot. You have captured a lovely winter scene, the sky is beautiful.

All the best, Pamela

I commented on the first version of this and went looking for it in your portfolio, perhaps you have removed it or I just didn't look close enough. This is a keeper, I like it even more than the original, the 'halo' adds that little something extra that really puts this over the top.

That halo is intriguing, hovering over the landscape. The overall blue tones sits well with the strip of yellow form the sunlight. Excellent winter landscape, very well composed.

Light passing through ice crystals in the clouds - a very common phenomenon, particularly when clouds are high, fairly thin and translucent and the result is a predicatable ring around the sun or moon.

I supposed you were aware of that, but thought I'd explain in case others reading weren't so knowledgeable, as I didn't see anything above that explained it - for people in the tropics especially, it may not be such a common sight as people more toward the poles.

Best to you.

Awesome shot Alf! Excellent com position, foreground textures are nice, and the halo is wonderfully situated with one end over the lone tree. Well done Alf.

All the best,

Neil

A lovely but rather ordinary landscape......that is until you look at that amazing sky. It's quite a beautiful and ethereal shot, Alf. I like that you've included the lone tree, which provides a nice balance. Very lovely work! And thanks to John above for explaining the phenomenon.

Beautiful Image. Perfect position of the tree and halo, great colours, contrast between the blue sky, blue foreground and the strip of yellow light on the horizon. Even the tree is the right shape, angled upwards into the halo, almost as if it is reaching towards it.
