doug_gentry 0 Posted January 28, 2010 Tim, this is so very well captured! The wintry feel, the textures, the isolation, all the elements you have treated well! Fine work! Doug Link to comment
Not Here 93 Posted January 28, 2010 Tim... Doug took all my adjectives, so I'll just say another great presentation. Is there some partial Orton effect used here?... Mike Link to comment
timzeipekis 5 Posted January 28, 2010 No Orton effect, in fact never even heard of it until now. Looked it up and I like the results, maybe will try it in the future. I'm just tweaking contrast in the midtones and being a little more aggressive than usual with my blacks and whites. Link to comment
David-Wisse 5 Posted January 29, 2010 Very interesting Tim - Has a dream-like feeling to me, with the distortion and soft focus. The composition is very nice, with the left side well anchored, and the line of conifers leading the viewer up the hill. Best, David Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted January 30, 2010 I like the angularity at which you shot, all the diagonals crossing each other. Gives the composition movement to go along with the sky. Love the way the main tree seems to get bisected by the snow gathering on the stump. It does have an altered state feel to it. I immediately thought of an applied glow . . . that sort of distorted dreaminess of the snow and clouds against the very sharp trees. Link to comment
jeffl7 0 Posted January 30, 2010 Another nice one. I love how the shadows and clouds look smudgy, as if created by pencil and charcoal rather than pixels. Link to comment
timzeipekis 5 Posted January 30, 2010 This was one of those shots that I liked compositionally, but really couldn't make up my mind how to process it. This one finally does that. I absolutely love how the snow "peppered" throughout the pine trees almost sparkles. Just as I felt when I saw it. Link to comment
pfranklin 0 Posted January 31, 2010 Nice and dreamy, a magical look to it. My daughter is an artist (quite good) and often draws with black/grey charcoal, this looks like one of her drawings. Great pp work Tim and well presented. All the best Pamela Link to comment
