Tim, after looking at your splendid snow pictures, this one almost seems like there is snow there too. I like the contrast of the whiteness and the starkness of the reeds.

Liz, your assumptions are correct, this is snow and not sand. A sunrise in the background, this was taken on a very cold February morning.

Tim... This is good stuff! Beach, reeds, rabbit tracks and this technique is quite unique with realism mixed with an ethereal feel. Excellent... (I would clone out the plastic bottle there on the left)... Mike

 

Wow, good eye! You know I've had this photo since 2007 and always thought that might have been a shoe print or something. You are right, it absolutely is a bottle. I'll get that out of there, thanks.

Love those black&white photos of yours. A winterscene like this might as well be shot in Norway. Have to go out and look for it.

I love these landscape images where the plants take pride of place in the frame. I think the reeds, the snowy conditions and sun trying to come through create a great winter scene.

Wonderful photograph. I especially like the dark tone of the cattails in contrast to the sand and the sky. This has such a natural feel to it, perfectly capturing the essence of the upper beach.

A beautiful fight of survival vs. the cold and windy atmospher. I feel the wind diagonally bending the reeds, the life passing by ,leaving traces , maybe looking for a shelter...It is a very nice winter scene.The light, snow and B/W execution are fitting the season perfectly.
