This scene was actually illuminated with a silver like glow as in a "Kaushik

Chatterjee creation" but without an easily recognizable subject. I

discounted the image until Jannica Svard made me a little less afraid of the

dark inspiring me to impart a mood I found more appealing. (I know I am a

shameless name dropper - but these and other artists really aid my artistic

growth.) I would appreciate any comments and critique.

Thanks, Patsy. You can tell I need the encouragement. I am struggling to learn how to display light as I envision – to have the value range almost randomly dappled – giving unexpected accents and contrasts that do not overly distort the image but make it suggest other possibilities and interpretations - like a silhouette within a silhouette on steroids.

Thanks, Maurizo. I appreciate the compliment as well as my intro to your street and architettura folders particularly - extraordinary work. I must study.

So glad to be of any help anytime and it`s very pleasing to get credit for it in this lovely way. Back to your image. Really good work here Wayne. The way you have pos worked is very good and you have created a very special mood and atmosphere in the photo. I can see a potential big Hollywood block buster poster. Beautiful light and colors. If I may come with a suggestion to you: Take the yellow spot out by cropping the image just underneath the spot. In my opinion the spot is not needed in your excellent work. A very well presented image, congratulations and once again thank you for the credit. Take good care my friend and all the best from Jannica

This image has a lot of potential. I think it would have been better to eliminate the yellow sun and the reflection on the beach in the foreground. My eyes keep getting drawn to them. Also, if those are people standing on the beach, it would have been nice if more of their silhouette was visible. Cheers!

Thanks, Jannica and Andrew. I appreciate the compliments and help. I agree the image would be strengthened by eliminating the yellow sun and defining better the silhouette of the people standing on the beach. I debated with myself about those things. I think I finally concluded to sacrifice a little artistry for the serendipity – the unusual coloration and presence of the sun (perhaps explaining the unusual tint to the water) and the suggestion of people on the beach (without making it perfectly obvious and too much of a focal point). But for the sake of art, I think I should process this image with your suggestions. I really appreciate your help. I like what you did to the image, Andrew. (By the way, Andrew, you are rock-solid in your design/composition with very few errant elements - masterful work. Most of the time that is what I attempt to accomplish in my work.)

After reading the other critiques it is difficult to add anything new, however here is my slant on it.

I think the dark clouds and stormy waves are the main elements of the image, they contrive to form a powerful atmosphere, it would have been nice to see the silhouetted figures a bit more clearly, however the image stands up on it's own and therefore deserves the merit it has attracted as it is. Nice work Wayne.

Thanks, Alf. These waves were the story for me. I have not been successful in creating a small file for photo.net that comes close to showing how these waves look on my monitor and in print...part of the learning process.
