timzeipekis 5 Posted January 25, 2010 I revisited this one thanks to some helpful observations from Dave Dewhurst. Thanks Dave! Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted January 26, 2010 This feels like one of those engravings one encounters in old illustrated books. I remember those good ol' ice storms back east, I miss them, believe it or not, for their beauty and the challenge of walking in them! At first glance I assumed this was hyper-sharpened in post process and, of course, then realized that much of the effect is being caused by the ice. I like the simplicity of the composition and the way the smoothness of the water offsets the rest of the textures. Link to comment
jeffl7 0 Posted January 26, 2010 So brittle, I feel like any moment the scene will crack and fall into pieces. A beautiful piece. Fred, sometimes the memory is better than reality. Link to comment
David-Wisse 5 Posted January 26, 2010 Very graphic - sharp and crisp as ice is. I agree it looks like an engraving. Do you mind explaining the process here? Best, David Link to comment
timzeipekis 5 Posted January 26, 2010 nothing out of the ordinary with the processing, just a b&w conversion. I did sharpen a bit more than usual to really make the whites pop. Everything was coated in a layer of ice and that creates the unusual effect. Link to comment
