rbanfield 0 Posted January 26, 2010 Been awhile since you've done some flower posting. Your post production on this shot is really fine. What I really like is the way the green leaves blend into the dark background. It makes the pink of the flower stand out so much more. Nice work Amigo...Lefty Link to comment

leo burkey 0 Posted January 29, 2010 I must admit I do enjoy both photographing and processing flower images. I don't know this flower's name but it grows as a vine and produces flowers in bunches. My processing includes using a curves layer to set white and black points and adjust the overall contrast. It is impossible to make curve adjustments without also affecting the image's color. To avoid any color shift simply change your blending mode to Luminosity and your colors will remain true. My next step is to merge all visible layers (Ctrl-Alt-Shift-E). I convert this layer to a Smart Object and add a Gaussian Blur (40-60). With the use of a Mask I can add the blur selectively and in varying amounts. This is where one can become creative and produce some very soft looking effects. Before Photoshop we had to control the blur with f stop and distance only. Your comments are always welcome.
