leo burkey 0 Posted January 26, 2010 This is probably the last image from my anniversary trip to Death Valley with Chris Harris and Ray Banfield. Not having any new images means it's time to start dipping into my past trips in search of something I missed or maybe redo better. It is the two levels of sand details that caught my eye on this image. The problem was that the front section was as bright as the ascending section. I used a gradient to darken the foreground and make it appear as flat as it was and provide a lead in to the ascending dune. I believe that this added more depth to the image and provided some needed separation between the two dunes surfaces. I finished with some dodging, burning and toning with Ektalure Cream toning. cphilpott 0 Posted January 26, 2010 Well done, the triple banding effect is superb. Thanks also for the comments re your technique, this is very helpful to me and no doubt others who are learning BW methods. All the best in the new year. Link to comment
