pjmeade 12 Posted January 23, 2010 Part of a Mass Photo Gathering in London to protest against the use of anti-terror laws that are being used (illegally, it seems) to harass photographers. Organised by "I'm a photographer, not a terrorist". Link to comment

birteragland 1 Posted January 24, 2010 Great one ,how ridiculous can they get.It would be a good one for one of my viewers who recently sent me an email accusing me of being pro taliban and supporting terrorism. The photo is terrific, tack sharp and to the point. Link to comment
lex_jenkins 13 Posted January 25, 2010 Well, I'm a sucker for the whole Guy Fawkes thing, so naturally I had to take a closer look. (BTW, does "anonymous" do their protest/harassment of Scientology in the UK while donning the Guy Fawkes masks? It was a bit of a fad here in the U.S. for a couple of years.) It conveys the attitude of spirited but ultimately futile protest. Not to mention irony, since Fawkes and his cohorts were indeed terrorists of a sort, tho' I admire their moxie. Anyway, a vivid image but doesn't quite hang together here. I'm not sure about the significance of the monument in the background. And it seems like there was a lot of other interesting stuff going on in the crowd. I dislike relying on the trite advice to crop tighter, but... maybe a tighter crop on "Guy" might work better for this particular photo. Link to comment
pjmeade 12 Posted January 25, 2010 Hello, Thanks to you all for looking and commenting. Lex, The reason I went with this composition, rather than just a closeup relates to the advertising for the event. I thought the inclusion of Nelson's Column was the way to go. The Guy Fawkes mask also relates to the film V for vendetta, in which the hero wearing just such a mask fights the totalitarian British government. Link to comment
