I have tried to photograph this scene a few times, but without a great

deal of success, it's either been too bright, the tides been out or I

haven't been happy with the composiiton etc etc, I used a 6 stop ND

circular filter for the first time to smooth the water, it seems to have

made a difference. Your comments and thoughts are always appreciated

Very nicely done! Beautiful image. On a scene like this I would have "worked it" with at least dozen shots. After this shot, I might have focused on that colorful and silky water and made it a greater percentage of the overall image. No two photographers should come up with the same image so this is simply some thoughts for your consideration. best regards,

Alf, this is a very peaceful scene where I enjoy just resting my eyes. An enjoyable and relaxing image. I love the soft colours, the smoothness of the lake, the soft yellow light on the building. Very nice!

Your persistence has paid off handsomely Alf! Beautiful soft colors, lovely curves in the clouds, and skies, and a gorgeous sky.

All the best,

Neil

The sikyyness of this scene is well displayed here. A fascinating sky along with the yellow tinged houses and fields adds all up to a delightful landscape.....Regards

Alf, I thinks this works very well. And I sympathize with your difficulties. One of my favourite places in NZ, where I will be soon, resists good image making, because it is a rather featureless mudflat. The key is the way the water and the sky looks and the light, and you have brought all these together very cleverly. Regards, Adrienne

Your picture manages to suck in the sight, the use of the wide lens produced a convergence in the sky that works well with the motion of the water that the long exposure neatly blurred and the reflections of the trees so nicely decorate. It looks a bit like ice, makes you want to go skating on it.

Great atmosphere to this shot, the smoothness of the water with all its reflerctions and colours and a great sky. I like the band across the middle with the cottages and tress. My only criticism is that I couldn't enlarge it on my computer to really look at the detail. Nice work.

Your efforts did definitely paid off here. To me this is a very beautiful and well composed capture and the ND filter has done wonders. Very romantic atmosphere all over. But I have a feeling that this is not only thanks to the filter, your post treatment is just brilliant. Congratulations to a splendid presentation and a very beautiful image. Take good care Alf and may the force be with you in the filter land :-)) Your friend in Stockholm / Jannica

I love what you've done with this. The row of trees against the sky, the house overlooking the water. What a beautiful place. Well done.

This is very appealing, the light on the buildings is warm and inviting, and your use of the ND filter has not only produced a silky smooth water surface but has added softness to the sky. This has a HDR look but more natural.

ALBERTO

Thanks for stopping by, the sigma 10 - 20mm is a great lens for wide view landscapes, glad you like it.

TONY

I really appreciate your imput, I did in fact take about a dozen shots of the scene different angles, and levels, the ones I took with a lot of foreground water and some of the colorful shingle that you can't see in this image, I felt were spoiled by the amount of messy looking seaweed, even this image has a fair bit of foreground cropped because of it, which is a shame because I had exactly the same idea you did! Cheers Tony

LINDA

Really glad you like it, but although it looks like a lake it is in fact a small inlet of the sea that runs between the island of Anglsey and the Welsh mainland in the UK, the title, just in case anyone was curious was derived from the cottage looking "pretty" and "wrecked" boat that can partly be seen sticking out of the water. Thank you Linda : - )

Thanks for looking in George, I was particularly pleased with the effect from the filter as it was the first time I used it, but I'll have no hesitation in experimenting a bit more with it now.

Thank you for your very kind comments, I was advised by a freind to make the files small in order that anyone attempting to use them illegaly would be futile, so humble apologies for not being able to view a larger version, but if you want a copy I'll email you, and give you details of the location, cheers John

Your explanation of your difficulties in capturing just the right 'sweetness' in this shot speaks volumes. Yet a good photographer rises to the challenge....conquering the negatives the elements can offer...you've shown great tenacity in your determination to bring together all the colors and soft textures. Your talented post processing has tied all these elements up in a ribbon, and inside we have a most beautiful, soft image.....beautiful blending of hues. The home has just the right vibrancy.....it does not 'stick out' in the image....it leads our eyes over the silky beautiful colors in the water.......and we are home.

Congrats on your determination in coming back to this location.....to finally bring us the image you knew could be produced.....at just the right moment.....most sincerely, Gail
