danbliss 0 Posted January 27, 2010 It is an interesting, moody, and beautiful image. The colors and textures are wonderful. I like the nontraditional take on the lighting. Nicely done. Dan Link to comment
kristina_kraft 0 Posted February 7, 2010 I've never seen such a dramatic lighting in scenery. Looks unique here. Link to comment
jeremy jackson 0 Posted February 7, 2010 Thanks guys for your nice comments. I thought you might like to see the original so I included it here. It really did look like this. All I have done to this shot is warm-up the light and fiddle with dodging and burning a bit. The light here comes from the fact that the image is made from a lake that is surrounded by very high mountains. There was a massive black thunder cloud sitting over the lake but the sun was breaking through in the distant valley to the East of Church Mountain. Cheers, JJ Link to comment
stp 6 Posted February 8, 2010 Jeremy, I really appreciate being able to see the original and to know what you've done in processing the image. I wish we had a forum in which we could follow an image from (RAW) capture to a final posting. I would find that very informative and helpful. Link to comment
jeremy jackson 0 Posted February 8, 2010 GREAT IDEA STEPHEN. Will you suggest it to Josh? JJ Link to comment
jeremy jackson 0 Posted September 24, 2010 This is an image of Church Mountain rising above Lake Ohara. Almost nothing was done in post here. Just unusual and dramatic light. Thanks, JJ Link to comment

alfbailey 1 Posted September 24, 2010 Interesting and inspiring transformation / processing from RAW to Jpeg, the small changes made a big difference in terms of impact.A most unusual but aesthetically pleasing and intensely atmospheric shot.Kind RegardsAlf Link to comment
vbirke 0 Posted September 25, 2010 The roaring silence - this was my first thought. Like such landscape scenes very much, but here you have captured a very, very beautiful, outstanding place and amazingly combined with this highly attractive weather condition. Congrats. I agree to Stephen: would be interesting to be able to discuss the workflow and / or see another version wherein the dark portions maybe are a tiny bit more exposed / structured, just to compare them (my screen = Eizo CG19). This is not a negative point here at all (regarding my own shots, I am pretty frequently unsure whether and how dark image elements can contribute to an aesthetic impression). Great work. vezio paoletti 0 Posted September 25, 2010 great image. and posting the original was great too. digital post production involves a wide range of solutions for the same problem/image and see how other photographers works is very interesting and helpful.congratsvezio Link to comment
sobie 0 Posted September 26, 2010 The darkness around the lake really enhances the beauty of the mountain. Well done! Link to comment

thadley 14 Posted October 18, 2013 This is very dramatic and beautiful. I find myself debating whether the black portions are too black and whether there is a need to lighten that area just a tad. At the end of the day, it is really an artistic question and decision. Link to comment
