Guest Guest Posted January 20, 2010 Beautiful image and of very impressive light and composition, all of the best my friend. Link to comment
stp 6 Posted January 22, 2010 Wonderful photo that imparts a feeling of a very early beginning. Some may say that it's too dark, but I think the amount of light you have permitted here is very important to the mood of the photo. Nicely done. Link to comment
alight 0 Posted January 22, 2010 I think it's pretty good, but I wouldn't wax such a high praises as the reviewers above. What goes for it is the left half of the photo, especially because of the backlighting. I would crop out the trees on the RH side - they are too dark and don't add any value to the photo. Cheers, Micheal Link to comment
stp 6 Posted January 22, 2010 Micheal, I can barely make out the trunks and spaces in the crown of the trees on the right, so they do add that sense of very early light, even though they are still very dark. To my eyes, they're adding to the photo; take them away, and the photo would be losing a contributing element. IMO, of course. Link to comment
alight 0 Posted January 24, 2010 I'm viewing this photo on a different LCD monitor now, and it looks better than what I've seen on the previous LCD monitor (the RH trees are not as dark). Cheers, Micheal Link to comment
bjorncarlen1 0 Posted January 24, 2010 Thank you guys for taking time to bother about my pictures. I feel flattered. I'm having second thoughts myself about how dark this picture should be. I want enough texture from the ground to come across, i e grass and weeds. Again I really appreciate your comments. After all I'm only a poor Swedish musician enjoying photography on the side. stp 6 Posted January 25, 2010 Well, you could be a rich photographer enjoying music on the side. Or maybe that's an impossible dream. Anyway, if you want texture in the foreground, it is going to have to be lighter -- it's currently too dark to see much detail at all. I tried a quick curves adjustment and blending of layers, but still wasn't able to get any detail out of the trees on the right. Link to comment
bjorncarlen1 0 Posted January 25, 2010 Sorry, Steven, that's too much exposure to the foreground for my taste. I want the eye to be drawn to the foggy and mystic background and to what might be happening there. What I had in mind was to just slightly lift the texture of the foreground to make it a bit more alive. I'll work on the RAW-file using NX for that. Link to comment
stp 6 Posted February 2, 2013 This just popped up after 3 years (thanks to Bruegel's comment), and I should add that my edit was just to see if I could get more detail out of the tree on the right. I couldn't, but I wasn't suggesting that you lighten the whole image like this; I, too, like your original. Link to comment
bjorncarlen1 0 Posted February 3, 2013 Thanks, Bruegel and Stephen! I actually agree now, that the foreground should be lightened up a bit that you're able more of the texture there. I'll try some local adjustments in CNX2. But again, I'm watching this in Chrome, which isn't treating the pics according to the profiles. Link to comment
